The Virtual-Grammetry of Main Frame City 360 - [A Borgesian Statistic] -

The Virtual-Grammetry of Main Frame City 360 - [A Borgesian Statistic] uses an adaptation of Jorge Luis Borges "On Exactitude in Science" as the basis for a script that is recited by a Statistic from Mainframe City 360 . The Statistic guides us through a looping virtual journey of a new configuration of Mainframe City 360, and questions the scale and ambition of many technological endevours, not least the promise of Virtual Realty.

In Mainframe City 360, the art of phantomology attained such perfection, that the map of a single program occupied the entirety of a algorithm, and the map of the Main-frame, occupied the entirety of a program. In time, those unconscionable data-sets no longer satisfied, and the surveying Statistics struck a Map of the Main-frame, whose size was that of the Main-frame, and which coincided point for point with it. The following Generations, who were not so fond of the Study of Phantomology as their forebears had been, saw that that vast map was useless, and not without some pitilessness was it, that they delivered it up to the inclemencies of space and real-time. In the deserts of the west, still today, there are tattered ruins of that map, inhabited by viruses and unfinished avatars, in all the land there is no other relic of the disciplines of virtual-grammetry.
